What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear, removable orthodontic system designed to gently move your teeth into a straighter position over time. Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, nearly invisible aligners that fit snugly over your teeth.

Whether your teeth are overcrowded, spaced too far apart, or have relapsed after previous treatment, Invisalign offers a modern solution that fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Why Choose Invisalign?

  • Nearly invisible: Smile with confidence during and after your treatment.
  • Removable: Eat, drink, brush and floss without restrictions.
  • Comfortable: No metal brackets or wires – just smooth, flexible plastic aligners.
  • Custom-made: Each aligner is tailored to your teeth for precise, predictable results.
  • Better hygiene: Studies show improved gum health compared to fixed appliances.

How Invisalign Works

Using the latest in 3D imaging technology, your aligners are created based on a personalised treatment plan developed our orthodontists. Each aligner gently shifts your teeth into position by applying carefully controlled force.

You’ll wear each aligner for approximately one week, for 20–23 hours per day, before progressing to the next in the series. Over time, your smile transforms – millimetre by millimetre – into its beautifully aligned final position.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

Treatment duration varies from patient to patient, but most cases are completed within 18 to 24 months. Simpler cases may take less time, and our specialist orthodontists will provide an estimate during your consultation.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your journey begins with a free consultation with Dr Iain Hoeltschi or Dr Joseph McGill, Invisalign-accredited specialists. During this visit, we will:

  • Assess your teeth and bite to confirm your suitability for Invisalign
  • Discuss your treatment goals and expectations
  • Provide an estimated cost and timeframe

If you decide to go ahead, a follow-up appointment will include a 3D scan of your teeth, digital photographs, and X-rays. This data is used to create your ClinCheck – a digital preview of your smile transformation.

See Your New Smile Before You Begin

Thanks to Invisalign’s advanced software, you’ll be able to visualise every stage of your treatment – from start to finish – before your aligners are even made. It’s a fantastic way to stay motivated and confident about the journey ahead.

Flexible Payment Plans

We believe everyone deserves a confident smile, which is why we offer interest-free monthly payment plans to help make treatment more affordable. Speak to our team about your options at your consultation.

“My journey with the team has been smooth and easy. They were fantastic in explaining each step of the process to me and this has in turn put my mind at ease throughout. Looking back at old pictures, I can see what a great difference the invisalign has made to my teeth and I receive lots of compliments about how good they now look. I would highly recommend this practice and their invisalign services to anyone, like me, wants to see a change. Thank you Suzette, Sam and Stacy!”

Invisalign questions

Good to know

Can’t see your question? Call us on 01962 841009.

How long does Invisalign take?

Most cases are completed within 18 to 24 months. Simpler cases may take less time, and your specialist will give you an estimate at your consultation.

Can I eat and drink with aligners in?

Invisalign aligners are removable, so you take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss, then put them back in — they need to be worn for 20–23 hours a day.

Is Invisalign painful?

Most patients experience mild pressure or discomfort when switching to a new aligner, which is a sign the treatment is working. This typically subsides after a day or two.

How often do I need to visit the orthodontist during treatment?

You’ll usually attend a review every 6–8 weeks so we can monitor progress and provide your next sets of aligners.

What happens after Invisalign treatment ends?

You’ll be provided with custom retainers to help maintain your new smile. Wearing them as advised is essential to prevent your teeth from shifting.
